Ye! Previous Awards Ceremonies

Global Awards 2016: Stockholm, Sweden

Over 20 of the most outstanding youth entrepreneurs were celebrated during the Ye! Global awards, held as part of CYFI’s 2016 Global Inclusion Awards in November 2016. Entrepreneurs included Country Award winners and finalists from Kenya, India, Kosovo, Ukraine and the Philippines, as well as finalists for Ye!’s Global, Young Entrepreneurship Award. With over 160 applications for the award, competition was tight between the six finalists.

  • Yomken.com, founded by Tamer Taha
  • Aster Company, founded by Kamal Alhmoud
  • MOBicure founded by Charles Immanuel Akhimien
  • BabyGrubz founded by Oluwaseun Sangoleye
  • SPOUTS of Water founded by Kathy (Seul) Ku and John Kye
  • Braci founded by Juma El-Awaisi, Anwar Almojarkesh and Amr Wanly

While it could have been anyone’s prize, the jury decided to give the award to SPOUTS of Water because of their impact and unique combination of technological innovation and tradition. The award was received by John Kye and Rebecca Liebshutz in the prestigious Stockholm City Hall.

Global Awards 2017: Berlin, Germany

On May 3rd, 2017, The Ye! Community declared the four winners of the Ye! Global Awards during the G20 GPFI Global Inclusion Awards, held in Berlin, Germany. Ten finalists were chosen from 177 applicants spanning 48 countries. Awards were given in four categories – Ye! Superstar, to an entrepreneur with revenues greater than $500,000; Ye! Rising Star, to an entrepreneur with revenues less than $500,000; Ye! Rural Entrepreneur, to an entrepreneur working in rural communities and the Ye! Female Entrepreneur. The finalists were:

  • I.T. Grapes (Technology) founded by Amira Cheniour from Tunisia
  • Tespack (Energy) founded by Caritta Seppä from Finland
  • East Africa Fruits Farm & Co. Ltd (Agriculture) founded by Elia Timotheo from Tanzania
  • Honey Products Industries (Agriculture) founded by Fredrik Matress from Malawi
  • African Clean Energy (Energy) founded by Judith Joan Walker from the Netherlands
  • InterAct (Technology) founded by Karim Dawood from Egypt
  • Eco Shoes (Consumer Products) founded by Mabel Suglo from Ghana
  • Acudeen Technologies (Technology) founded by Mario Jordan “Magellan” Fetalino III from Philippines
  • Laboratori Fabrici SRL (Technology) founded by Pietro Paolo Ganis from Italy
  • Tropingo Foods (Agriculture) founded by Momarr Mass Taal from Gambia

And the winners were: Momar Mass Taal - Tropingo Foods received the Ye! Superstar Award, Mabel Suglo - Eco Shoes received the Ye! Rising Star Award, Amira Cheniour - I.T.Grapes received the Ye! Star – Female Entrepreneur Award, and Fredrick Matress - Honey Products Industries was presented with the Ye! Star – Rural Impact Award.

The Ye! Ambassadors Meeting

Most recently, the Ye! Community organized the Ye! Community Ambassadors Meeting during the Argentina G20 Presidency, GPFI Forum. The G20 GPFI Forum was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 2 - 4 2018. The GPFI forum brings together the G20 countries to discuss furthering financial inclusion.

The GPFI Forum, also hosted the Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) Global Inclusion Awards for the second year running. The Ye! Country Ambassadors were recognized on stage during the Global Inclusion Awards, where they received certificates of recognition for their role in growing the Ye! Community and organizing youth-led support networks.

The Ye! Ambassadors Meeting was held on July 4 2018. The meeting allowed the Ye! Ambassadors to connect with one-another, share their stories, gain a greater understanding of systems change - the Ye! Community's methodology for advocacy and policy change, and offer their suggestions for enhancing the Ye! offering.
