Mario Jordan Fetalino III, also known as Magellan, is the Founder and CEO of Acudeen Technologies, an award-winning Fintech startup.

Mario's passion for entrepreneurship began while in University. He first studied entrepreneurship at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila as an undergraduate. He continued to study entrepreneurship for 7 more years after which time he received his Master’s in Entrepreneurship from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business in Makati.

After completing his studies, Mario became the Vice President for Digital Communications for the international medical publication, Medical Observer. It was during this time that Mario noticed a real challenge faced by small enterprises. Many small businesses need their invoices to be repaid quickly in order to continue their operations, as they depend heavily on the cash from these receivables. Receivables or money that is owed from outside the company – an unpaid invoice, often have long repayment periods, especially for large enterprises. These periods can range anywhere for 30 – 90 days. With 99% of businesses in the Philippines categorized as micro, small or medium enterprises, Mario identified that this issue was hurting the growth of these businesses.

Acudeen is a Fintech platform that Mario developed as a solution to this problem. Launched in 2017, the company partners with large corporations to streamline their payment systems. On the Acudeen platform, small enterprises are able to sell their receivables to Acudeen’s network of financing partners, providing them with faster repayments on receivables and access to the much-needed cash to continue their operations. Through this system, Acudeen works to provide more flexible and transparent financing options for SMEs, removing barriers and promoting their growth.

Acudeen’s technology was hailed for the potential it unlocks for SMEs even before the platform publicly launched. In 2016, Acudeen was the Seedstars Philippines National Winner, Tech in Asia Tokyo Startup Arena Winner, and the YES Startup Summit National Winner. After launching publicly at the start of 2017, Acudeen continued to win awards, taking home the prize for the Seedstars World Global Winner 2017 and Founder Institute’s Best Global Fintech Startup 2017. Mario was also a finalist for the 2017 Ye! Global Awards, for which he traveled to Berlin, Germany to participate in the Ye! Global Awards Ceremony - held as an official event of the G20 Germany Presidency’s GPFI forum.

To date, the Acudeen network continues to grow and build partnerships, with requests coming from small enterprises and large corporations alike, both of which gain from Acudeen’s technology. In the future, Mario is looking to bring Acudeen’s technology to other emerging markets in Southeast Asia in order to continue promoting financial efficiency and transparency and removing barriers to growth for SMEs.
