Ye! Community Uganda in the News
June 16, Kampala - Over 130 young entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs took part in the Ye! Uganda Training and Pitching Summit at Silver Springs Bugolobi in Kampala, Uganda. The event was organized by Child and Youth Finance International and the local Ye! Chapter, in partnership with The Mastercard Foundation, UWEAL, Pelere Group, and Enterprise Uganda.
The Ye! Community Uganda Pitching & Training Summit was purely youth organized and featured a dialogue between youth and policymakers on issues relating to entrepreneurship, as well as a pitching session whereby young entrepreneurs pitched to a jury of investors and experts.
A key speaker on the government panel was Honourable Minister of Trade Werikhe Kafabusak, who reaffirmed the government’s support for youth entrepreneurship. Youth took the event as an opportunity to ask questions directly to government representatives about how the government is fostering youth entrepreneurship. They also made recommendations on how the youth and the government could collaborate to achieve this.
Speaking of the event, Sandra Letio, Ye! Ambassador Uganda remarked “It was a really amazing experience to be able to organize this event, which is by youth, for youth. Together the youth will be the ones to take the future of Uganda forward and fulfill Vision 2040”
For the pitching session, six entrepreneurs who were selected from an online competition. They presented their businesses to the jury which included experts and investors, notably renown businessman Patrick Bitature of Simba Group of Companies.
The winner of the pitching competition was Sam Turyatunga who pitched his business Tursam Investments Ltd. He was awarded the Ye Entrepreneurs Uganda Award. The jury explained that his passion, confidence, concrete forecasting and scalable business model is what made him the winner.
This Ye! Uganda Training and Pitching Summit clearly showcased the need to support young entrepreneurs as each pitcher showed the great investment potential, enthusiasm, and ideas of the Uganda’s youth.
The Summit continues on Saturday with trainings for young entrepreneurs on Personal Leadership and Financial Management and Business Growth. The trainings are offered by the John Maxwell Team and Enterprise Uganda.

Representing the Ye! community in Uganda is the Uganda Ye! Community Chapter in Uganda.
