The Ye! Awards Egypt
On Sunday April 15th, 2018 Ye! Community will host the first Ye! Awards in the MENA region. These Awards are organized by the SANAD Fund for MSME’s Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), and Child & Youth Finance International through its Ye! Community initiative, and in collaboration with the Nile University's Nilepreneur program (sponsored by the Central Bank of Egypt). This exciting event comes on the heels of Ye! expanding its offering by providing the Ye! online platform in Arabic, and working to strengthen its support for young entrepreneurs in Egypt and across the MENA region.
The awards in Egypt are part of a global series of Ye! Awards around the world, including those which were held in Sweden, London, Turkey, Berlin, amongst others. The Ye! Global Awards 2017, hosted in Berlin, were held in collaboration with the G-20’s GPFI. Thus, it is our pleasure that the winner of the Superstar category at this ceremony will be shortlisted to the Ye! Global Awards which we are in the process of organizing in cooperation with the Argentina G-20 presidency.
About the Ye! Awards – Why Celebrate Youth Entrepreneurs?
What we hope to achieve through the Ye! Awards is to raise awareness by highlighting examples of exceptional young entrepreneurs and by emphasizing the importance of supporting them, as these entrepreneurs plan an essential role in creating a more sustainable economic future.
To date Ye! has held awards in countries around the world, including, Germany, India, Kenya, Kosovo, the Philippines, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uganda.
About the Ye! Awards Egypt
We recognize that young entrepreneurs in Egypt and all around the world face difficulties in starting and growing their enterprises. Today, we celebrate entrepreneurs who are succeeding despite the odds and are shining examples of the potential of youth in Egypt and around the world.
The applications for the Ye! Awards Egypt were opened through the Ye! online platform. We received more than 125 applications from across the country. The applicants were narrowed down to nine finalists across three categories: Ye! Superstar, Ye! Rising Star, and Ye! Stars to Watch. On April 15th, 2018, Ye! will celebrate the 9 finalists, together with high-level representatives from the corporate, banking, governmental, NGO, and academic sectors.
Winners will be offered prizes from many of the Jury members and their representative organizations.
- Sponsored travel to the Child and Youth Finance Summit in South Africa for the winner of the Superstar category
- Incubation and ongoing support from the Nilepreneur program in technical development and business development
- Immediate shortlisting to the MINT Incubator competition led by EG Bank in partnership with Cairo Angels. MINT Incubator offers an intensive training program and hands-on support to 10 promising startups, led by a variety of mentors, industry experts and entrepreneurs.
- A placement with the Global Leasing Company, where the winners will receive first hand training on finance and financial analysis, with some winners also being offered cheaper funding options
- Financial management training through the Egyptian Banking Institute
The Awards Ceremony & Dinner Gala will provide an excellent opportunity for networking and dialogue on the next steps for transforming the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Egypt.

By utilizing an online platform, Orcas offers an easy to access and use solution for both parents and youth.

Abdulrhman Mohammed El Halafawy | Napata

Through his enterprise, Abdulrhman and his team recycle palm waste while promoting the creation of local handicrafts in Aswan province. Palm is the third largest waste group in Egypt with 105 tons of waste created annually. The purpose of Napata is to turn the waste into products that are useful for society and create added value. The products created are environmentally-friendly handicrafts that represent the local culture and art. Napata’s aim is to revive and develop these industries by turning them into organizational projects capable of competition and sustainability, while also offering a unique solution to the growing problem of palm waste.

Rania and her team established Entreprenelle to empower young female entrepreneurs by providing financial education and training, as well as connecting them to resources. Young women job seekers are faced with high rates of unemployment, poor employment opportunities and expensive training. Women face more difficulties in starting enterprises and are less educated in the fields of entrepreneurship. Entreprenelle provides mentorship opportunities, hands-on courses, training and workshops with localized content as well as networking opportunities. The aim is to build a network of entrepreneurial “Elles”, who are fully equipped to turn their ideas into successful innovative business ventures.

Momen and his team created a mobile application for the preservation of the Nubian Language; the first project of its kind. The Nubi app leverages technology to teach children and youth about the Nubian language in an interactive and fun way. The app is available on Google play store for anyone with a phone, making it accessible for anyone who is interested in learning the language. Ultimately, Momen’s goal is to have Nubian available on Google translate, to prevent it from going extinct and to ensure it is easy to learn when using his app.
Tarek Mandour | Mazboot App

Tarek is the creator of Mazboot App, the first Arabic mobile application for helping diabetic patients manage their disease. Mazboot’s aim is to help millions of diabetic patients manage their disease by offering a resource they can use to assess and monitor their daily condition. Mazboot helps patients overcome daily challenges by empowering them with personalized feedback and notifications detailing their daily blood glucose measurements, physical activity requirements and medications. The app also allows patients to more easily connect with their doctors. Doctors can receive their patients’ data when they log it, increasing efficiency for managing patient data and decreasing the need for unnecessary appointments.
